For our first event in Detroit, Reflections shares a night with Resavoir, aka International Anthem artist Will Miller. He’ll present music from Themes For Dreams, his serene, sumptuous new LP of electronic ambient jazz.
Opening is experimental guitarist Gregory Uhlmann, known for his work with Perfume Genius and SML. We’ll pair their sets with a visionary light show, projection mapped to the walls of this historic Detroit church.
Resavoir
RESAVOIR is the work of Chicago-born and based musician, composer and producer Will Miller. Miller is a jazz trumpeter and composer by training – first via Chicago Public Schools, then Oberlin Conservatory.
As an instrumentalist he’s played on recordings by SZA, Chance The Rapper, Lil Wayne, Mac Miller, and for several years was a regular member of the indie band Whitney. Since 2016 he’s moved more and more in the direction of all-around “producer” – working with an expanded palette of synths, pianos, live and programmed drums in addition to his MIDI-augmented trumpet, he developed a signature cinematic soul-jazz sound rooted in hip-hop structures.
In 2019 Miller released Resavoir’s debut album Resavoir to high praise, including a glowing 8.2 review in Pitchfork. His latest LP, Themes For Dreams (2026, L’UNIVERS), marks another left turn, finding Miller at his most meditative, patient, and intentional. Across 13 gorgeous tracks, it eschews drums in favor of immersive melodies that float, dissipate, and linger. It’s an album meant for rest, with arrangements so welcomely enveloping they feel like a warm blanket. While it’s Miller’s sparsest record yet, it still keeps his wildly collaborative ethos, enlisting guests like Marta Sofia Honer, Jeremiah Chiu, and Macie Stewart.
Gregory Uhlmann
GREGORY UHLMANN is a guitarist, composer, and producer from Chicago living in Los Angeles. His musical palette embraces beautiful warble-y sounds, low fuzzy vibrations, and playful rhythms that overlap in surprising ways.
His resume since includes stints as a regular recording/touring member of Perfume Genius, Hand Habits, and Anna Butterss’ backing band. Whether he’s contributing to the LA trance-jazz improvisation of SML, the progressive electro-acoustic chamber music of his trio with Josh Johnson and Sam Wilkes, or in the hushed melancholic rhythm machine of Duffy x Uhlmann, it’s clear that Uhlmann is a lead asset in every collaboration.
Extra Stars, his solo debut for International Anthem, pulls Uhlmann even further into the spotlight while showcasing his knack for directing the talent of his community of collaborators, establishing him as one of the most exciting emergent artists in modern music.
Cathedral Church of St. Paul
With its soaring, pointed arches, wide expanses of stained glass, and elaborate tracery, the Cathedral Church of St. Paul is exemplary of Gothic architecture. The congregation formed in 1824, while the building was designed by architect Ralph Adams Cram in 1907 and erected using medieval construction techniques. The church is an ADA accessible space.
